Objective
Cardinal must collect the minimum required number of coins in order to access the time portal located at the end of each level. Cardinal must remain alive by avoiding / putting sleep hostile enemies.
Game mechanics
Prentice
- Prentice can fire different colored projectiles while aiming with the left stick. Projectiles that hit enemies of the same color deal x3 damage.
- Prentice can fire a green projectile that spawns a cactus when it hits anything other than an enemy. Cacti can cause damage over time to enemies and Cardinal.
- Prentice can point a shield that soaks up enemy projectiles and can use it to knock back enemies, stunning them for a short while.
- Prentice can shoot projectiles at coins to collect them.
Cardinal
- Roll move allows Cardinal to bypass enemies and dodge incoming enemy projectiles.
- Parry should be used during an enemy melee attack and if timed correctly, the enemy will be stunned without Cardinal taking any damage.
- Running increases Cardinal's move speed on the ground and in the air to help make those harder jumps.
- Cardinal builds up a combo (+1) when attacking an enemy. For every 1 combo from 1-5 , Prentice's projectile fire rate decreases by 0.1 seconds.
- From a combo of 7+ onward, Cardinal receives 1 life every 2 combo points.
- Cardinal combo is broken and reset to 0 when he receives damage.

Cardinals, in the family Cardinalidae, are passerinebirds found in North and South America. They are also known as cardinal-grosbeaks and cardinal-buntings.
The South American cardinals in the genusParoaria are placed in the tanager family Thraupidae. On the other hand, DNA analysis of the genera Piranga (which includes the scarlet tanager, summer tanager, and western tanager), Chlorothraupis, and Habia showed their closer relationship to the cardinal family.[1] They have been reassigned to that family by the American Ornithological Society.[2]

Biology[edit]
They are robust, seed-eating birds with strong bills. The family's smallest member is the 12-cm (4.7-in), 11.5-g (0.40-oz) orange-breasted bunting. They are typically associated with open woodland. The sexes usually have distinctive appearances. The northern cardinaltype species was named by colonists for the male's redcrest, reminiscent of a Catholic cardinal's biretta.[3]
The 'North American buntings' are known as such to distinguish them from buntings of the Old World family Emberizidae. The name 'cardinal-grosbeak' can also apply to the cardinal family as a whole.
Most species are rated by the IUCN as being of least concern, though some are near threatened.[4]
